Obituary for Bettye Jean Goodwin Fowler

Bettye Jean Goodwin Fowler, age 85 of Springfield, died Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Springfield Heights. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Adam Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 until 8 PM and Tuesday from 9 AM until the hour of service.

Mrs. Fowler was born September 12, 1934 in Robertson County to the late Rias Harrison and Loreta Merritt Goodwin. She was a member of Barren Plains Baptist Church and was retired from Robertson County EMS where she was an EMT. She was a longtime volunteer for the American Red Cross and was active in TIKI MAST. She enjoyed fishing and driving the tractor on the farm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Wesley Fowler, and her brother, James Harrison Goodwin.

floral squareShe is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chip and Hilda Miller of Springfield; daughter, Jaynie Hughes of Pahrump, NV; step-son and wife, Greg and Tammy Fowler of Cummings, GA; step-daughters, JoEllen Fowler and Annette Fowler, both of Nashville; grandchildren, Cayce McDonald and husband, Jon, Matt Miller and wife, Jenna, Kelsie Fowler, and David Fowler; and great grandchildren, Kaili McDonald, Joshua McDonald, Samantha McDonald, and Callan Miller.

The family request, if so desired, for memorial contributions to be made to Springfield Heights. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.

Obituary for Leonard Earnest “L.E.” Mooneyhan Jr

Leonard Earnest “L.E.” Mooneyhan Jr, age 77 of Springfield, TN died Friday January 24, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday January 27, 2020 at the Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery with Jesse McKee, Zeke McKee, Peyton McKee and Eagan McClelland serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Hopewell Baptist Church at 10 am until service time at 11 am on Monday.

Mr. Mooneyhan was born November 29, 1942 in Davidson County, TN to the late Leonard and Elizabeth Pyburn Mooneyhan Sr. His sister, Ann Norris also preceded him in death. He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired Truck Driver for UPS. L.E. loved farming, RVing and the Milldale CO-OP Coffee Club.

floral squareMr. Mooneyhan is survived by his wife, Katherine “Kathy” Ragland Mooneyhan of Springfield; daughters, Beckie Mooneyhan and Kara Stevens both of Springfield; grandchildren, Jesse Mckee, Zeke Mckee, Peyton Mckee and Eagan McClelland and great grandchildren, Ella, Raz and Jude McKee.

Obituary for Peggy Nash

Peggy Ann Nash, age 83, of Springfield, passed away Monday, January 27, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield. A Graveside service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:30am in the Oakland Cemetery with Reverend Sammy Rye officiating.

Visitation will be held at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield prior to the graveside service on Saturday from 10-11am.

Ms. Nash was born October 15, 1936 in Greenbrier to the late Jack and Nanny Hulsey Nash. She was a homemaker and member of the GreenRidge Church of God of Prophecy.

Obituary for Kaye Felts

Glenda “Kaye” Felts, age 74, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Signature Healthcare in Clarksville.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 o’clock am, Thursday, January 30th, at the West End Free Will Baptist Church, 5152 Highway 49 W., Springfield, TN 37172, with Bro. Ronnie Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:00AM until the hour of service at 11:00AM.

A memorial visitation will take place from 4:00-7:00PM, Wednesday, January 29th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View.

Ms. Felts was born December 14, 1945 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Elmer and Hazel Sterry Felts. She was a retired legal bookkeeper and a founding member of West End Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield.

Kaye married Bill Silvers in 1972, and helped him raise his five children as if they were her own.

Survivors include two sons, Rob (Jennifer) Silvers, and Jeff (Rae Ann) Silvers; two daughters, Pam Davis, and Suzie (Tom) Flowers; a sister, Annette Lindamood; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two nieces, and a nephew.

Evelyn “Jeanne” Pennington, age 76 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Friday, January 24, 2020 at White Haven Assisted Living in Adams, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View, Tennessee on Thursday, January 30th, at 2:00PM with Bro.Kevin Williams officiating. Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham with her sons, Chris and Cary; her grandsons, Brandon and Kyle; and her nephews, Kenny Sircy, Jerry Sircy, and Gary Swing serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Pleasant View on Thursday from 12PM until the hour of service at 2:00PM.

Mrs. Pennington was born on November 2, 1943 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to the late Grover Ramon and Ada Louise Kemper Swing. She was a former school teacher and loved her family very much. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Dianna Lynn Grant Fullton, age 65 of Springfield passed away Friday, January 24, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Dianna was born in Paradise, KY on March 4, 1954 to the late William B. and Virginia N Annes Grant.

She was a school teacher for the Robertson County School System and was a member of Mt. Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was an avid reader and loved spending time hanging out with her grandchildren.

Ronnie Eugene Shores, age 66 of Joelton, Tennessee, died Thursday, January 23, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held at Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church in Pleasant View, Tennessee on Saturday, January 25th, at 1:00PM with Wayne Hunter, Tommy Ellis, and Randell Bracey officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Springs Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church in Pleasant View from 11AM until the hour of service at 1:00PM .

floral squareMr. Shores was born on August 16, 1953 in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late Garner and Lois Parsons Shores. Ronnie was a retired sign maker. He loved fishing, playing and watching basketball. He loved his family very much and was a member of Good Springs Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Shores.

Survivors include his son, Brian (Mandy) Shores; and two grandchildren, Ashleigh and Noah Shores.

Nancy Ellen Miers, age 87 of Greenbrier passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center.

Visitation will be 10am until 12pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier. The funeral service will be at 12pm on Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Don Sensing officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Nashville.

She was born in Johnson City, TN on February 13, 1932 to the late Harrison and Edna Brown MIers. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Arnold Miers, Clay Miers, Eddie Miers and a sister, Iris Gwillim.

She is survived by many friends and extended family.

Obituary for Wanda Roberta Dixon

Wanda Roberta Dixon, age 87, died peacefully on January 7, 2020. Born in Hendersonville, on September 19, 1932, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Percy and Lula Dixon; brother, Edward Dixon; and sister, Katherine Shelton.

Following her graduation from St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville in 1950, Wanda became a postulant, and then member, of the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia Congregation. She taught in schools in Jackson, Oak Ridge, McEwen, Memphis, Winchester and Nashville. After leaving the congregation in 1975 to care for her family, she taught young children at Dixon Family Day Care in her Hendersonville home. Wanda also served for many years as cook and housekeeper for Msgr. William Bevington, pastor of Our Lady of the Lake parish in Hendersonville. After undergoing a double amputation in 2015, Wanda moved to Life Care Center of Old Hickory Village where she lived until her passing. She donated her body for medical research at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Obituary for Stella Ruth Mason Ashburn

Stella Ruth Mason Ashburn, 88, of Springfield, passed from this life on Sunday January 19, 2020 at North Crest Medical Center.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday January 22nd at 2:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Dr. David Hughes officiating. Interment followed in Springfield Memorial Gardens with Mack Ashburn, Barrett Sims, Mason Sims, McLain Sims, Austin Duck, Daniel Ashburn, and Michael Ashburn serving as pallbearers. The family received friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Ashburn was born June 7, 1931 in Greenbrier to the late Otto Dean Mason and Naomi Dorris Mason. She was a 1949 graduate of Greenbrier High School and attended Austin Peay College. Mrs. Ashburn worked for Durrett Transfer Company and then was Director of Springfield Baptist Pre-School, along with Mrs. Lucinda Apple, for 20 years. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church for 62 years and served on countless committees along with teaching Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Ashburn was a member of the Glenn Memorial Garden Club, The Century Club, and the Youngville Homemaker Club, which later became the Youngville FCE Club for 60 years. Her loving heart and ability to listen comforted family and many friends over the years.

Obituary for Douglas William Buck

Douglas William Buck, 67, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday January 16, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday January 19th at 2:00 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in White House with Pastor Randy Sakach officiating. Interment was held on Monday January 20th at 2:00 p.m. (EST) in the Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN. The family received friends on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Robertson County Funeral Home and on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in White House.

Mr. Buck was born June 10, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Robert William and Marjorie Brockmeier Buck. He was a retired Lieutenant with the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in White House. Mr. Buck was a member of the Master Gardener’s and of the Bee Keeper’s Association. He enjoyed all aspects of history surrounding the Civil War.

Obituary for Ralph Meadows Sr.

Ralph William Meadows, Sr, age 75 of Springfield, Tennessee, died Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View, Tennessee on Thursday, January 23rd, at 1:00PM with Bro. Gerald Prior officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Cemetery in Adams with Brandon Payne, Malcom Meadows, JayBo Bilbrey, Jay Walker, Little Brandon Payne, and Jason Bilbrey serving as pallbearers. His great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-8PM, Wednesday, January 22nd and again on Thursday from 11:00am until the hour of service at 1:00pm.

Mr. Meadows was born on August 20, 1944 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late James R. and Myrtle Crossland Meadows. He was the founder of Transmission Exchange in Nashville and was a mechanic for over 60yrs. He was a transmission specialist and master builder. Ralph loved to hunt, loved helping people, and loved his God. He always supported Nanny in whatever ministry she was involved in. He was a member of the New Life Community Church. Pop was surrounded by all of his loved ones at his bedside when the Lord called him home.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Ralph Meadows, Jr.; brother, James R. Meadows, Jr.; and sister Ann E. Pritt.

Obituary for Kathryn Hill Hastings

Katie Hastings, age 42, departed this life on January 17, surrounded by her family and those who loved her. Her 43rd birthday was celebrated in Heaven on January 18th with our Lord.

Katie was born to Geraldine and Richard Hastings in Rochester, New York. She is survived by her brother, Clark Hastings, and his wife Catie, nephews Gavin and Lawson and many loving relatives in New York State.

Katie was a graduate of Hendersonville High School in 1995 and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Kentucky University in 2002. Throughout her adult years, she always worked in jobs that involved helping other people of various ages. She was most recently employed as the Dementia Practitioner and activities director at NHC Place Sumner, lovingly caring for residents in the memory care unit.

From childhood, Katie had a passion for art. She enjoyed reading, drawing, and most of all, spending time with family. She was devoted to her family, especially Gavin and Lawson. Friends and family will always remember her selflessness, loyalty, and compassion. Katie had a natural ability for supporting others and making everyone feel special. She touched the lives of so many people, yet remained so very humble.

floral squareThe family would like to thank Dr. Laura Barnes, Dr. Alissa Swearingen, Dr. Raul Couret, and the many nurses and techs who cared for Katie with such love and kindness. Special thanks to NHC Place Sumner for providing a comforting, loving environment for Katie’s last days.

She will be missed and remembered by many.

Visitation was held Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Hendersonville. The Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held Wednesday, January 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph of Arimathea Episcopal Church in Hendersonville.

Obituary for Eloise Hewgley Thompson

Eloise (Johnson) Hewgley Thompson, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Gallatin, Tennessee. Eloise was born on August 8, 1932 in Hendersonville, Tennessee to the late Garnett Martin Johnson and Mildred Edwards Johnson.

She was a member of the Hendersonville Church of Christ, where she volunteered in the church library. She was full of life and enjoyed many hobbies and had many interests, including sewing, cake decorating and playing bridge. Eloise was a loving caregiver for several people, and she cherished the life that she was blessed with.

She is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Stan) Williams, Stephanie Hewgley, and Susan Diane Rowe; a brother, Gene Johnson; sister, Sandra Taylor; 7 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

The family received friends at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View from 11AM-6:00PM Saturday, January 18th. There will be no visitation on Sunday prior to the graveside service.

Mrs. Putman was born on October 14, 1947 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late George W. and Frances Cantrel Edison. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Paul Putman; sons, Todd and Tim Putman; sister, Pam (Larry) Logan; and granddaughter, Brandy Putman.

Obituary for Billy Davenport

Billy Eugene Davenport, Sr., age 76, of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at his home.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Davenport was born December 18, 1943 in Old Hickory, TN to the late Haskell Otis and Mattie Elizabeth Bagsby Davenport. He was a carpenter, a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in VietNam. He loved fishing, football, the Greenbay Packers and his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Davenport is survived by his wife, Clara Drake Davenport; son, Billy Eugene Davenport of WA; three step-sons; three step-daughters; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Michael Cameron Burke, age 35 of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tennessee.

A Memorial Visitation was held on Monday, January 20th at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View from 3:00PM-6:00PM.

Michael was born on September 22, 1984 in Opelika, Alabama to Dimas Mercado and Margaret Burke Shye. He was a carpenter.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Angel Burke; and fiancée, Shannon Rhodes.
